Karla Paula Henry proved that Filipinos just do not have beauty but also brains as she grabbed the title Miss Earth 2008.
The 8th edition of Miss Earth beauty pageant, was held on November 9, 2008 at the Clark Expo Amphitheater in Angeles, Pampanga, Philippines. Eighty-five delegates arrived from October 19, 2008 in the Philippines. The pageant was broadcasted live via ABS-CBN in the Philippines and to many countries worldwide via Star World, The Filipino Channel and other partner networks.
At the conclusion of the final night of the competition, outgoing titleholder Miss Earth 2007, Jessica Nicole Trisko of Canada crowned her successor Karla Paula Henry of the Philippines. The pageant was hosted by Billy Crawford, Miss Earth 2004 winner Priscilla Meirelles, and Miss Earth Canada 2006 Riza Santos.Final Question in Miss Earth 2008: "What would you tell US president-elect Barack Obama about the state of the global environment if ever you were to meet him?"
